Free concert this Saturday!

This Saturday, spread out the picnic blanket and gather your friends for a special concert in the heart of Melbourne. Thanks to BMW – just like subscribing to Q MAGAZINE MEDIA – it’s FREE!
Hear thrilling high notes and stunning harmonies, and experience the uplifting force of opera. This open air concert is performed by some of our brightest stars, backed by a fabulous live orchestra featuring musicians from Orchestra Victoria.
The event will begin with a prelude performance by the renowned Australian Girls Choir, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of music.

Date & time: Saturday 14 March
4:30pm: Gates open – arrive early to secure your spot and spread out your picnic, or explore the restaurants and bars at Fed Square before the performance begins.
6:30pm: Acknowledgement of Country Sung by Shauntai Abdul-Rahman
6:40pm: Australian Girls Choir
7:00pm: Opera Australia singers & Orchestra Victoria
Running time: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

General Admission: This is a free concert, and there’s no need to register for tickets in advance, sign up here to receive weather updates.
things to bring and remember
- Pack a picnic: You’re welcome to pack your own picnic and picnic blanket and make the most of the evening. Seating will not be provided, but you’re welcome to bring along picnic rugs and short folding chairs.
- Be sun smart: Be prepared for the weather. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water bottle to stay hydrated – a water station will be available on site to refill your bottles.
- Bring a warm or waterproof layer should the weather change. Wear sensible footwear as the ground may be uneven with some trip hazards.
- Alcohol-free space: Federation Square is an alcohol-free space unless in one of the licensed venues on the Square.
- No cloak room: Fed Square is an outdoor public space, there are no cloak room facilities available.
