The inaugural Australian Drag King Community Awards will celebrate the history, talent and cultural contribution of Drag Kings across Australia, marking a significant moment for an artform that holds an important place in Australia’s performance landscape. Public nominations open Friday 6 November 2026, inviting people across Australia to put forward the Drag Kings, creatives, venues and community contributors they believe deserve to be celebrated. There are ten awards categories for the inaugural year.

Following the nominations period, a rigours judging period will occur and public voting will then commence. All leading to the awards ceremony in Sydney where the winners will be announced.

A vision born from community

Created and founded by Nash Hill, aka Drag King Dragos, the awards grew from her love of the artform and her desire to give the Australian Drag King community a chance to shine. She has been in the king community for so long that in drag years she is considered to be a grandfather.
