Out filmmaker Yuval Hadadi turns his own journey into A Man Walks Down the Street, the story of a gay man who returns home and finally faces the life he left behind.
For Israeli writer-director Yuval Hadadi, making A Man Walks Down the Street meant facing the fear that shaped his own early life. Hadadi didn’t come out until he was 30, and his Hebrew-language drama is a personal reckoning with internalized homophobia.
The film follows Raanan (played by Angel Bonanni), a middle-aged man who returns to Tel Aviv after 30 years abroad to sell his late mother’s apartment. A chance encounter with an elderly man he once knew stirs long-buried memories, and a brief affair with Adir (Yotam Rotshtain), a much younger man, forces Raanan to confront the life he never allowed himself to live.
