Having sold out shows in New York City and Los Angeles, Maddie Silverstein brings her anti-diet-culture solo show, Guilt Free. To the Edinburgh fringe at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe every day between 20-30 August at 3:15pm. The pay-what-you-can tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

Guilt Free is a one-hour solo show that critiques early 2000s American guilt-free labels. Audiences are invited to laugh at diet culture from Weight Watchers to Ozempic, and perhaps bread is tossed. Three desperate characters—including America’s top infomercial actress and Gwyneth Paltrow’s almond counter—expose how far people go to stay slim. An arsonist of chain restaurants also features. Drawing on Silverstein’s fashion years and the Edinburgh fringe revival of 90s/00s thin ideals, the work delivers sharp satire. It critiques the endless quest to be size 0.

Maddie Silverstein

Comedian, performer, and model based in New York City. She has headlined the Chicago Women’s Funny Fest, Laugh Factory, and the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival, among others. She has modeled for brands including Youth To The People and SavageX, and made a memorable appearance on the catwalk at a Taco Bell runway show. Maddie also produces Funny Fat Friend, an all plus-size comedy show, and Will They Kiss?, a 5x sold-out queer wrestling-themed variety show (featured in Autostraddle and TimeOut New York).
