The competition is a fantastic opportunity for emerging short stories and creative non-fiction writers, and includes:

Cash prizes up to $1,000
Publishing opportunities on the Writers Victoria website

One entry will also be awarded the Regional Writer Award worth $500.

Short stories: Fiction stories (all genres) up to 3,000 words.
Non-fiction: Memoir extracts, biography, narrative non-fiction and essays up to 3,000 words.

Competition closes Monday 20 July 2026.
