Celebrate the rituals of sauna with pop-up Nordic saunas, a sauna trail, guided workshops and immersive Aufguss ceremonies

This Spring, Peninsula Hot Springs is turning up the heat with a season dedicated to the art of sauna. Seek the Heat launches from 6 October, until the end of November, with all Peninsula Hot Springs bathers invited to discover a new Pop-up Sauna Space with three new Nordic saunas and an outdoor fire and lounge that set the stage for warmth, connection and renewal.

To enrich the season, Peninsula Hot Springs will host daily complimentary workshops, guided rituals, and breathwork sessions, alongside the debut of Sauna Aufguss – a traditional European practice where heat, aroma, music, and movement come together in a powerful, multisensory ritual led by skilled sauna masters.

Sauna Aufguss is one of Europe’s fastest-growing wellness rituals coming to Australian shores. Guided by internationally trained masters Mette Jung Gruttner and Amanda Berger, this multi-sensory practice combines steam, aromatherapy, music, towel work and mindful facilitation to create a transformative experience.

Beyond the pop-up, guests can follow the Sauna Trail, a journey of ten unique sauna experiences across the Bath House and Spa Dreaming Centre. From traditional Finnish dry saunas and infrared saunas to hot and cold plunges, herbal-infused steam rooms, and saunas inspired by global traditions, the trail invites guests to explore the many ways heat and contrast therapy can revitalise body, mind, and spirit.

Mette Jung Gruttner is a certified Sauna Aufguss Master from Denmark with more than 20 years of experience across the Scandinavian wellness industry. Holding formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Quality Auditing, and Psychological Health and Safety. Mette merges operational excellence with human-centred wellbeing. Now based in Melbourne, she brings the richness of sauna culture as a way of life into modern spaces, offering immersive experiences that are safe, inspiring, and deeply restorative.

Amanda Berger is an Aufguss Master, personal trainer, Pilates instructor, breathwork facilitator and sound healer with nearly two decades of experience in movement, health and restorative practices. Guided by her
belief that balance is the foundation of long-term wellbeing, Amanda has helped hundreds of people on their personal wellness journeys. Her intuitive and nurturing approach creates rituals that invite guests to slow
down, reconnect, and fully relax, bringing the global sauna movement to life in Melbourne, one ritual at a time.
