Access Becomes Art, World Ballet Day 2025 is a celebration of innovation and the power of collaboration in dance

The global phenomenon that unites ballet companies from across the world with artists, students and fans returns in 2025 to delight and inspire once again. The Australian Ballet will join The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, Paris Opera Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, alongside a host of other leading companies.
Exploring the theme of Access Becomes Art, World Ballet Day 2025 celebrates the diverse community that makes ballet and dance so powerful through creativity and collaboration.

“World Ballet Day has always been about opening doors. This year, we’re exploring new ways of approaching the creative process and inviting the world to experience what dance can be when we embrace new collaborative perspectives.” Kevin O’Hare CBE, Director of The Royal Ballet
In partnership with Restless Dance Theatre, The Australian Ballet will be presenting an all-abilities workshop. Filmed during the DanceX season in Melbourne, Artistic Director of Restless Dance Theatre, Michelle Ryan, will present the Move, Imagine, Create workshop with help from Restless Dance Theatre’s artists, The Australian Ballet Principal Artist Brett Chynoweth, The Australian Ballet’s Education and Outreach team and some lucky participants.

We’ll also take you behind the scenes with a very special morning class that unites classical ballet with contemporary techniques, bringing together artists from The Australian Ballet, West Australian Ballet, Stephanie Lake Company and Bangarra Dance Theatre.
