Set in the 1990s and opening with OMC’s How Bizarre, Plainclothes follows closeted undercover cop Lucas (Tom Blyth), who must suppress his anxiety from working in entrapment — arresting gay men in public toilets. When Lucas meets Andrey (Russell Tovey), their mutual attraction changes everything.
To hold us together in one final embrace for 2025, the evening will also feature a special live performance as well as the world premiere of Welcome to the Cyber Rodeo by Jim Muntisov.
The Crowd
Centrepiece

Australian Premiere
Drama | Iran | 2025
Thu 20 Nov · 6:15 PM
The Capitol
Throwing a farewell party shouldn’t be dangerous — but in Tehran, it can be. When Hamed and his friends try to celebrate Raman’s departure, they risk more than disapproval: they risk their freedom.
Based on Kabiri’s own experiences, The Crowd is a vibrant, defiant portrait of queer youth resisting patriarchal norms. Shot independently over 12 days, it’s a heartfelt tribute to chosen family, everyday rebellion, and the power of gathering against the odds.
